PTA

The purpose of the parent association is to serve the school’s best interests by supporting its mission, programs and activities.  The Parent Teacher Association’s mission is to:

  1. Promote the mission of the school.

  2. Foster Community.

  3. Raise funds to enrich the curriculum by providing special programs beyond the school’s budget.

  4. Facilitate communication between the parents, administration and school board.

  5. Identify opportunities for parent participation at the school.

  6. Respond to the needs of the parents in facing issues of raising children in a Jewish environment.

  7. Provide social gatherings with and without children.

  8. Recognize faculty effort.

  9. Give gifts to the school.

 

The PTA board operates within a formal set of by laws, which clearly defines its conduct.

 

The chair of the PTA works closely with the administration and the board.  The chair’s involvement with the board of trustees, the education committee and the PTA membership facilitates ongoing communication.

The PTA’s annual dues provide the financial basis for its programs.  Additional fund raising activities take place during the year.  All net proceeds directly benefit the school community.

The PTA’s programs are planned according to the interests and needs of the parents and students. Each program is made possible with the help of many volunteers.  Key programs include: creative art programs in the school for Judaic and cultural enrichment; opportunities for parent programs to respond to issues of rearing school age children and an ongoing computer acquisition program funded by weekly pizza lunches.
